Bigg Red - Going the extra mile!
The Remanufacture Process
Upon arrival, your calipers are visually inspected for any damage, photographed & then logged onto our data management system allowing their progress to be tracked at any time. Should your calipers require any further engineering (ie. broken bleed screws/damaged mounting bolts/damaged threads) this will incur extra charges (you will be contacted before this extra work is carried out). We never substitute your calipers, what you send in is what you receive back. We take pleasure in leasing new life into calipers, whatever the starting condition.
CLEANING
Next, your calipers are completely stripped (of all seals, screws, bolts etc) and then hot washed to remove any last traces of dirt or dust.Your calipers are then tumble blasted down to bare alloy or cast iron to allow for an accurate material inspection. To maintain their integrity, small and delicate parts are hand blasted by our trained mechanics
You have 3 options to choose from when considering the finished coating for your calipers. Each has their merits and our team of experts/enthusiasts will gladly discuss the options with you if you are unsure.
STANDARD
If you’re unconcerned about cosmetics and speed is of the essence, we can offer a standard silver aerosol spray paint option. Average lead time: 2-3 business days. (Finish will diminish quickly but calipers will be mechanically perfect)
ELECTROPLATE
Used on the majority of current cars and as standard on all classic marques, electroplate coating provides a OE finish to any caliper. This finish provides more durability than the standard coating. Available in silver or gold. Average lead time: 15 business days.
While calipers share the same basic cast design, they are forged at different times, in various locations, and using diverse raw materials,.
Cast iron calipers are porous, they contain both moisture and air. Customers need to be aware, that depending on the quality and age of the cast, there are a few occasions when the electroplate is not completely uniform. we'll communicate with you to explore the available options for moving forward.
PREMIUM
For those seeking the wow factor, we offer a choice of 15 different stock colours. There are a range of customisation options to enhance your calipers further (decals, bespoke colours of your choice). Average lead time: 10-15 business days.
BUILDING
We aim to rebuild every caliper with brand new components as we have over 90,000 seals and 11,000 pistons on the shelf, plus a stock of bleed screws, pad plates, transfer pipes, handbrake levers & springs. Should new stock be unavailable we have a range of options to help overcome this.
TESTING
Every caliper is fully air tested using the latest Ateq test equipment. Once our expert team are satisfied with your calipers performance, they are then packaged up securely ready for despatch.
